Residential Energy Credits Reduced for Tax Year 2011

The nonbusiness energy property credit has been reduced to a TOTAL lifetime amount of $500 for all years AFTER 2005.

The maximum credit AFTER year 2005 for:

• Windows is $200

• Advanced Main Air Circulating Fan $50

• Qualified Natural Gas, Propane, or Oil Furnace, or Hot Water Boiler $150

• Other Energy Efficient Building Property $300

If the TOTAL nonbusiness energy property credits you have taken AFTER year 2005 is $500 or more, you CANNOT claim this credit for 2011.
