Health Insurance Deduction Increased for Self-Employed Persons for Tax Year 2003
The self-employed health insurance deduction has increased from 70% to 100% for tax year 2003. It can be claimed for any month you were not eligible to participate in a subsidized health plan of another employer (including your spouse's employer.) This is an above-the-line deduction, so the taxpayer does not have to itemize deductions. |
